criticism 2010 and 2011 are two great years for some young writers who attend CoCyclics. Their first novel was published. It's pretty good in the end to pass later, a bit like oral tray. I benefit from the experience of others. (
I recall that you can pre-order my novel here .). I observe what happens with the same caution that my cat when I offered him other than his usual kibble in his bowl.
The post-release ... (I speak in my own name.) We do not think that much when you're waiting. We remain focused on the publication itself. Go, go far as to say that this is a bit of obsessive ... Nothing unusual for a first novel. To continue the digression, I hope the wait will amplify the joy of the moment itself when I shake the book to my heart. Then I will run into the garden waving it to the cows around the admire. Finally, if they are outside, because there, because of the snow they were harvested.
So, without friends, I would be focused on the anticipation of this new fee in the life of
At Out of the Shadow . If I am using the study of my own person, egocentric as it may seem, I notice that it is recurring in the aspiring writer: it anticipates the end of each stage, but not necessarily the next. For example, when writing the first jet, the anxiety is whether we will finish it. Then, if the correction will end one day, then if the result will survive the beta-reading, then if we will eventually send it to publishers, then if we will finally get a positive answer, then how will be the cover upon ... and by the way, how the corrections will happen?
But once the exit is near, it's more anxiety, how the novel will he be welcomed? The worst thing is that nobody notices. Anyway. It happens to criticism.
criticism has nothing to do with the beta-reading. Normally, if you've done your job with your editor, notice the player must enter the realm of the subjective: anything goes, themes, characters, style, history, everything. Could that someone one likes 100% of your choice. Even when you love a book, you just think a bit to find things you do not agree. Moreover, to my reading, I made a firm decision not to put myself in an optical shelling, so as not to spoil me what I liked.
The problem is even argued that critics are writing for other readers, not for the author. This is normal, the author is not the text, must be able to speak without jargon. Except that the relationship between author and text are very narrow. We do not bump months or years on a project like this without feeling bruised when a player hates what has been produced, for whatever reason and although he is entitled.
(note: that's why I will not read the good reviews published ALSO rl I am optimistic. I am willing receive direct all returns polite, honest, highly disapproving as you like, this is not the same thing, because a priori, it will be made différemment.Vous agree that if you talk to me about my book, you will most of tweezers in my absence. Kind, instead of telling me, that's all rotten, frankly, monsters me I find it super lame, I do not even know how to read stories as preposterous let alone write! ", You'll want surely a delicate "really, I'm sorry, monsters, this is not my thing." It's less offensive.)
back to our sheep. What worries me most is the question that sometimes generates these reviews. Kind, what good writing or getting published if I find some texts as null? Or, how love really, how many are disappointed? Should we risk disappointing so many people?
To me, this is not a good question. Are we going to stop selling chocolate because some are resistant? No. Or, if you look at the proportion of readers who hate the French fantasy or science fiction, does this mean that we must remove these types of market? NO.
Second, how should we call into question following the criticism? If there is any criticism positive, obviously. But I tend to advocate caution, do not try to please everyone. It is also about identity, not mine.

Be yourself.
"Queries, manuscripts, correspondence: The Absolute Best Thing You Can Do Is To just be yourself." I agree. What makes a good text is an author who gives him a clean tone. He must love his lyrics beyond criticism. In my case, when I think
At Out of the Shadow , I know I shall never cease to love the pretext that one critic hated it.
Are these strong reflections, better cash out negative opinions? Hmm, I'll be presumptuous to believe that this does not affect me. Knowing me, I just hope that I will want to drown myself in work. It will be good for CoCyclics and Siwès. In any case, it does not stop me.
The Dark Side of the Force, no doubt.
